Artist Statement
The jewelry with which a woman chooses to adorn herself does much more than sparkle. With just a glance at a woman’s neck, wrist, or ears there can be an understanding of her tastes and styles, her likes and maybe even mood . There is a feel for her personality, interests and view. For this reason I love to create each unique piece of jewelry with it’s own voice and story. I strive to provide a large variety of styles with an array of materials to createjewelry that feels it has been created specifically for each customer. I want my jewelry to speak to people. I love to create pieces with a vintage feel, that seem to have been around foryears. Or items that feel plucked from nature, as if they have fallen from a tree or have beendug from the earth.
As a self-taught artist I like to experiment with a variety of materials to achieve this vision. I use sterling silver to ensure quality. Pearls, Swarovski crystal and semi-precious stones for their color and delicate feel. Shells, leaves and druzy quartz are used for their natural beauty and texture. Chain and copper add depth and variation. All materials are utilized for their uniqueness, whether it be shape, color or eccentricity.
As an artist my views and preferences continue to change. I hope that my jewelry helps other women take a second look at what is available and helps them see that jewelry should be fun, personal and expressive. It doesn’t have to be routine, or common. It should make her feel beautiful, special, and unique. With each piece I create comes a new experience and perspective for myself and another opportunity for my customers to convey their senses of style. I love to see each piece find a loving and fitting home, and a customer who feels they have found something that was made just for them.
